Hindus Culture Effects In Java (English Ver.)

There are many theories about the spread of Hindu culture in Java, for example the Van Leur theory which states the spread through the Brahmans, or the Krom theory that the Hindu Culture was brought by merchants from india Hinduism itself is openly accepted in Java and is growing rapidly. The arrival of Hinduism (In Indonesia) does not suppress the original culture, but instead animates the existing cultural system, thus reflecting the value of truth, virtue and beauty (sathyam, sivam, sundaram). (Wayan Suja 2003:6).

The main thing that became the biggest influence of the presence of Hindu culture in java was the introduction of a caste system that not existed before. Besides, it is spreading the understanding of cosmologi of the universe based on Hinduism, where nature is divided into 3 (Swakaria, Bhuwarloka, and pralina) as well as the natural creation cycle in 3 stages (Srsti, sthiti and pralina) and each stage is divided into four great periods (Kertayuga, Tetrayuga, Dwaparayuga and Kaliyuga).
